A Day in Tampa Bay: Florida State Fair

This is the first post in my Florida travel series which will cover fun and affordable activities all throughout my resident state! I’ve been a resident of Tampa, Florida for nearly a decade now and I have come to truly enjoy the quirky activities and events this area has to offer. This past weekend, my fiance and I had a bit of a Sunday Funday at the Florida State Fair!

Every February, the Florida State Fair lights up the fairgrounds with food, fun, and funnel cake for two straight weeks. Attending the fair has become a tradition for me since I started high school eight years ago. My freshman year, I found out all students in my county are given a free fair admission ticket AND the day off of school to attend; I have been hooked ever since.

Our fair is home to a mess of spinny and twirly midway rides, big bold games and overstuffed prizes to match, sinfully delicious fair foods, Cracker Country (a rural Florida living history museum), and adorable livestock/animal exhibitions. There’s something for everyone here! I’m always excited to hop on as many stomach-churning rides as possible before chowing down on a deep-fried buffet! See our fair day fun below and watch the Florida State Fair countdown (top left corner, underneath hours and directions) to plan your visit!
