The Best Pieces from Cardi B's Sold Out Fashion Nova Collection
Fashion Nova is one of the many fashion brands that quickly caught on to the power of celebrity collaboration collections. From Kylie to Cassie and finally to Cardi, one of fashion’s most Googled brands has finally launched their most anticipated collection, Fashion Nova x Cardi B. This collection is so important because Fashion Nova was built on highlighting the unique combination of body positivity and urban influence that most brands ignored until it became trendy (ghetto until proven fashionable, anyone?). By collaborating with hip hop’s most influential and outspoken Afrolatina, Fashion Nova has once again clicked into one of their biggest consumer sectors: young black and brown curvy women.
Fashionistas around the world have been waiting for this collection to drop since last year when it was teased. While most of us expected thotfits and ghetto hoops, we were all in for a bit of surprise with Cardi’s collection. Launched during the F/W season, this collection featured pieces with more classic silhouettes (i.e.: peasant blouses and wide leg pants) rather than two piece short sets and mini dresses. Although, a ho never gets cold, she may still need a fabulous faux fur coat.
Here’s a look at some of the best pieces from the Fashion Nova x Cardi B collection.
With a fun and playful moniker reminding us of one of our favorite Cardi songs, this trench is sure to pop off on Instagram and in our wardrobes. A pop of color coat is a staple in a fashionistas closet. And with a sleek latex fabric, it is perfect for rain or shine! I would pair this with a pair of snake print thigh high boots.
Picking up on our love for two piece sets, Fashion Nova and Cardi curated this gorgeous two piece blazer and pant set styled seductively with the 2018 go-to accessory: no shirt plus bronzed skin. I would style this with a gold chain belt and a top handle mini bag.
Another statement coat tops my list (you can never have enough) although this coat is more practical in style and feel. This fabulous coat hits just at the knee giving you a long line silouhette. I would wear it with a simple pencil dress and sky high stilettos.
This mysterious piece is one of the more risque pieces in the collection. It gives me a vintage burlesque vibe and I can see it a great base piece for a fabulous outfit. I would wear it with a glittery tube dress underneath and a pop of color pump.
I just can’t get enough of this trench! In black or in red, it’s still such a slay! Anyone else getting Missy Elliot vibes?
These pants are my absolute favorite pieces in the whole entire collection! They are classic, form fitting, and soooo 70s - my favorite style era. I would pair these with a turtleneck and a high ponytail.
Just when I thought these pants couldn’t get any better, I spotted them in burgundy and fell in love all over again!
Another artfully constructed piece, this blouse is one of the more high fashion pieces in the collection. It is both sexy and elegant.
This gorgeous blouse is so elegant! It is truly not what I expected to see in a Cardi B collection but it is a pleasant surprise. I would pair this blouse with high waisted, wide leg pants.
This top is a must have! The decorative collar is reminiscent of the 1800s giving this look a very regal vibe. I would pair this with a red plaid pencil skirt.
This oxblood jacket is bad to the bone! This looks fabulous paired with and LBD or simple high waist jeans.
With an ode to her 90’s upbringing (yes, Cardi B is a 90’s baby), Cardi brought out some pieces that give me Lauryn Hill vibes. This chic skirt is the perfect Fall trend piece! I would pair with orange sock boots and a long sleeved crop top.
This 70’s-esuqe patchwork blouse is perfect for work or going out. It is just long enough to be a shirt dress but still professional enough to be a work blouse. I love how it is paired with brown pants!
This sweater dress is sure to be a staple this season! The mustard color has been trending all year and it is sure to look fabulous on brown girls all over. I would pair this with pair of ankle boots and a crossbody mini bag.
While this collection wasn’t as thotful as most expected, it still sold out in less than six hours. Plus, we still have hope for a S/S collection.
